Have Sex Then Find Your Purpose in Life
68Achieving your life’s purpose is the greatest accomplishment you can hope to experience. However, before you try to figure out what your purpose is there are a few other things you need to do first.
The chart below is Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, created by Abraham Maslow prominent Humanistic Psychologist. The hierarchy provides a clear map of the sequence your various human needs must be met before you can achieve your purpose.
Maslow defines human needs in five categories. You begin by meeting the needs at the bottom of the triangle. After you satisfy the needs in each level you can move up to the next higher level. Only after you meet the needs of all the lower levels can you finally move the self-actualization level where you can achieve your purpose in life.
Maslow's Hierarchy
Physiological Needs
Before all else, you must satisfy your physiological needs. These include basic things necessary for surviving the very next minute. You can’t be concerned with your purpose in life if you don’t have air to breathe, water to drink, food, sleep or the other things you need immediately to stay alive. Unfulfilled needs at the physiological level you cause you to become all consumed with satisfying the need.
At the physiological level sex refers to procreation. Without it the human race will become extinct.
Safety Needs
Safety Needs include immediate threats to you, your family or your critical belongings. If your home could be struck by a bomb at any moment you probably won’t be very concerned with your purpose in life. If your neighborhood is plagued with drive by shootings and home invasions, you might be more concerned with those issues rather than contemplating the reason you are on the planet. Serious illnesses also fall into the Safety Needs category since when you are severely ill you are apt to prioritize your illness above other needs. Employment fits into the Safety Needs category because threats to your livelihood are threats to the way you fund the solutions to your physiological needs.
Love/Belonging Needs
After you have mastered your Physiological and Safety Needs you can begin working on Love and Belonging needs. Affiliating with your family and finding friends to love becomes a priority as your work through the hierarchy. Sexual intimacy rounds out this category as you seek to find someone that you can relate to romantically. So it is true, you can not satisfy your purpose in life unless you are sexaully satisfied. So get to work.
Esteem Needs
You build self worth at the Esteem Needs level. You see your own value as a reflection to the way others view and accept you. You will need to set goals and make achievements in order to be fulfilled. Achieving goals and having those achievement acknowledged by others builds your confidence. Only when the Esteem level of the hierarchy has been met can you begin thinking about Self-Actualization.
Self-Actualization
When you reach this level, you are achieving your purpose in life. The self-actualized person has met all his lower level needs and can focus on his purpose. Right now you may not understand what being self-actualized means. There are particular characteristics of self actualization as well as techniques for getting there that I will discuss in future articles. If you have been embroiled in a daily battle to resolve your lower level needs, self-actualization may not be something you are yet capable of understanding.
Attempting Self-Actualization before you have satisfied the lower levels of the hierarchy is difficult at best. Even after you find your purpose you must continue working to keep all of your lower level needs satisfied. If one of those needs becomes unmet it will immediately become your largest concern. It’s amazing how quickly your purpose in life becomes unimportant when your house explodes.

I found this very interesting. I look forward to seeing more on this subject.
Sometimes, lower level needs, no longer become needs. You can still move on.
Thank you for such a good thought provoking hub.
